Facelift and Neck Lift
“I believe face and neck lift surgery should be as little noticed as possible, just like all cosmetic surgery. There are many techniques applied to the face and neck, and what the patient and everyone else notices are the scars if visible, the tuft of hair in front of the ear, the earlobe and its shape and position. I am extremely meticulous about scar planning, dissection during the surgery, and closure. In fact, I have determined it takes me an extra 15 minutes or so on each side of the face to place the incision fully BEHIND the tragus (and I highlight this because many surgeons claim to do this but don’t!); to elevate the flap without disturbing the underlying cartilage; and finally to close this area, which is difficult essentially inside the ear canal.
“This extra time and effort is worth the while however, because it allows for no scar at all in the area on or in front of the tragus, that small area in the front and center of the ear. Insuring that the remainder of the skin closure is done without tension and with edges everted and perfectly lined up adds to the undetectability of a great facelift closure.”
